Postcrossing Forum Rules (full)

Purpose:
The Forum's purpose is support and discussion of the postcrossing.com idea, which is a project that allows anyone to receive postcards from random places in the world.

The Forum code of conduct

Be friendly.
The official language of the forum is English.
The forum is an international group of members and you should be aware that a lot of the members don't use English as their first language so their messages may be a little cryptic.
Fill in your profile and tell the members a little bit about yourself.
The signature area is to be no larger than 6 lines of normal/standard sized text. Colours can be used, but the moderators always reserve the right to not approve a signature if it's too flashy.
No country bashing.
You are responsible for what you write.
Be respectful of other members, respectful of the forum, and respectful of yourself when you do and please don't insult anyone. Any repercussions are of your own doing.
Do not personally attack any member. Resolve your differences elsewhere.
We do require good behaviour from you.
Make your own copy of important information, don't rely on forum backups
U2U is the private message system on the forum between two members. Don't copy/paste text from u2u's onto the forum unless you have permission of the other member. The messages are private.
We have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit.
Only do one message on a topic, don’t put the same message in multiple forums.
Remember that most of the members are nice and friendly.

Games
There are many unofficial games and activities on the forum. They are there because members wish to extend their enjoyment of postcards.

Tags, Swaps, Trades, Round Robins, Exchanges, Notebooks etc. are all unofficial activities.
In Tags - read how they work first before tagging one and all. There is a description in each section giving the rules of how to play.
Honour your promises - if you say you are sending something then send it.
Tags, swaps, exchanges and trades are at your own risk (the moderators and administrators can't help you if you don't receive something that was promised to you).
Be honest.
You will find a percentage of members who do not honour their promise to send an item. There is nothing we can do about these people.
You are not to publicly list good or bad traders on the forum. We will not have lists rating traders good or bad like some other (well known?) forums

Communities
Many communities have their own area where they write in their own language. These areas are supplementary to the main English forums.
Good behaviour is expected in these forums.

Off Topics
Cleaned out monthly and numbers of messages reduced regularly.

What's NOT allowed:

No spamming - you will banned straight away. We have no tolerance at all with spammers.
No racist, obscene or vulgar comments - you will be banned straight away.
No religion wars - you will be banned straight away
Abusive, slanderous, hateful and threatening messages in the forum will be removed from the forum and a warning from the moderators. If the messages continue you will be banned.
No listing of members names as white lists or black lists or travelling lists in signature areas, messages or bio's.
No name calling.

No trades/swaps etc. for CD/DVD's etc unless original discs are being exchanged because of copyright issues in many countries.

Administration and Moderators

The Forum is actively moderated.
The moderators reserve the right to take actions when they see fit.
Comply with Administrator and Moderator requests. While you are entitled to your opinions and are free to voice your concerns, the Administration and Moderation team are not required to agree with your opinions and they have the final say.
Do not personally attack an Administrator or Moderator.
If you are banned from the forum don't keep trying our patience and coming back under different names. We will notify your Internet Service Provider if you continue to do so.
We store IP addresses.
As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither the Postcrossing Forum, Paulo Magalhães nor XMB shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
