2nd Ontario/Toronto Area meet up in Hamilton - January 16 2010 - Details on first post!
Well what was probably the first meet up in Toronto was cool, was thinking of organizing another one...in Hamilton OR Toronto in January...possibly a
weekend (lots of time to plan and save a day on your calendars).
Hopefully more people will be up for this.
Possible day/place: 16th of January, Saturday in Hamilton, 11:30am
Plan might be Dundurn Castle, Hamilton Harbor, Art Gallery....all depends on the weather
Who's coming:
renegade_Cavalcade
blind_melonette
Taxingwoman
cawindt
suephil (maybe)
We are meeting here in front of Queen Victoria's statue, it's between James and King St., near Jackson Square (I'm sure it won't be hard to ask for
directions since most people in Hamilton know where Jackson Square is )

** Meet up photos on the last page

You ladies were fun to meet I don't mind either way, though Carole might know more about Hamilton
than I do!

3rd weekend of January (15/16)? I think Saturday would be ideal, I get annoyed with the bus schedule on Sundays |

I'd be interested in attending. Either Toronto or Hamilton would be an easy drive for me from Michigan. |

I'm assuming you mean Saturday the 16th, right?
I'm very excited to go to my first Postcrossing meet-up
Since I've never been to one, what should I expect? Do you get together, buy postcards and stamps and write them together? |

Yes 16th! My bad, that was updated at 1AM meeting place TBA for
now AND of course if weather permits we will push though with the meet-up
Yes we buy cards and write them together
OH I saw 15c old cards at Dundurn Castle but they were all of Lady McNab's boudoir or something....I wonder if they'll still have them in January |

We could always check out Dundurn Castle.
cawindt: Last meet-up, we wandered around, bought a bunch of postcards, sat down to lunch, had fun writing and stamping cards.
I just recommend bringing a list of addresses of people youd like to send some cards too. or you could even bring some cards you already addressed!

Dundurn Castle + Hamilton Harbour there's a coffee shop there,
which sounds like a good spot to write cards |

Yes Dundurn always gets new supplies of postcards and not a bad price.
Williams Coffee pub would be a good place to write cards. If the weather is nice we could go on James St. They have lots of places that sell postcards
and lots of free cards too. Copy Dogs on James, says they are going to start making postcards. The dollar store in Jackson Square, which is close by,
sells really nice cards 2 for a dollar. There is a shop on Locke St. that has deals on cards, 3 for a dollar, but not all the time. I can ask the
lady there to get some. She is interested in joining Postcrossing too, so maybe I could invite her to come along.
The Art Gallery sells good postcard books if you are into that.
So lots of options to consider
I guess depending on where people come into town we can plan a route ahead of time, depending on the weather
You can always come over to my place Sorry I don't have a car
though. |

I don't know about most of other places you mentioned, the Dollar Store at Jackson Square doesn't have that great a selection when I went earlier
today. Dundurn is not so bad either...but it depends on the size of card. I went to the Art Gallery but it was for an event, might check that out in
advance.
But yes, plans will depend on the weather, hope it will be good then.
Funny I don't live that far from you at the moment |

Sorry I missed this post earlier! I'm in Bay City, which is about 2 hours by car from the Port-Huron/Sarnia border crossing. It would be fun to host
a Postcrossing meet up in Bay City. However, even though we are pushing ourselves as a tourist town, there are really only two places in town that
sell postcards, and the selection is rather lacking |

Any idea about what time for our meet-up? As I'm driving about 4.5 hours, I vote for no 6 am coffee meeting |

Don't worry I'm not a morning person either. You are more than welcome to come over to my place to freshen up after you arrive.
We will have to make it worth your long trip

Is lunch time good? (11-12ish) count me as another non-morning
person

Lunch works for me As I am normally up at 5.30 am during the week,
I'll still be able to sleep in, so I'm happy! |
