References in signature?

Forgive me if this topic has been raised before, I couldn't find anything.

I recently had a very unpleasant experience with a private swap, and considered later that, as I had never swapped with that person before, it would have been useful for me to have known if they were ok - so, from now on, I shall list a couple of refences in my signature so that people who don't know ME have the opportunity to ask if I am ok. I would ask people first, obviously! The referees can, of course, use me as a reference for themselves. I'm not suggesting this be formally adopted, just that others might want to do it, too.

What do others think?
