Please, can someone there translate > many greetings from Austria< to japanese , but in latin font. My google -translater use japanese letters, and that´s too difficult for me to write. I like it, to send my receivers greetings in their own language.

(need help) find the mobile phone owner

Hello!

I've got a status from my friend on Facebook that

his father got a mobile phone in his taxi in Hong Kong.

The phone are shown in Japanese and the phone number is related to Japanese one, perhaps this phone has to be lost by a Japanese tourist.

It is very difficult to find out the phone owner, but his father is so nice, hopes the owner can get his/her phone soon.

If you can, please transmit this message to someone else or Japanese forum.
Thank you! Arigato :D

HERE IS the photo WHAT THE MOBILE PHONE like

in that case, just phone one of the numbers in the addressbook and ask this person, to which person this phone belongs to.

The poetry is quoted from Komachi's Poetry Book/小町集 by Ono no Komachi/小野小町 who is one of the Six best Waka poets.
I haven't skill to translation them. Sorry for not being helpful.

Hello Japanese friends,

I will be in Japan next month, most of the time in Tokyo. Could anyone recommend me nice and easy to find postcard (tourist) shops or places to buy writing paper, etc.? Thanks so much in advance! I am really looking forward to your country.

Looking for someone from Japan :)

Hi everyone! :) I have been conducting interviews (similar to the ones on the Postcrossing Blog) and asking Postcrossers to tell me about their country, culture, and of course, their postcards!

A lot of people have signed up, which is great! But no one from Japan has signed up yet and I'd love to interview someone from this country.

If you might be interested, just follow this link. You'll be able to see the interviews of other Postcrossers who have already signed up
: http://forum.postcrossing.com/viewthread.php?tid=68879

All you'll have to do for the interview is answer questions and take some pictures. And you'll probably already have the pictures for the interview anyway, so you might not need to go out and take any more. ;)

Also, if more than one person wishes to sign up, that's just fine! I don't mind repeat countries, especially since not everyone will write the same thing. :)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

My son is in Cub Scouts and as an elective working towards his language pin he has chosen to learn how to write the numbers 1-10 in a foreign language. Is there anyone with a symbol type language
1. Chinese
2. Mandarin
3. Japanese
4. Arabic
Any of those or probably many others, that would be willing to send me a postcard or letter with the numbers so he can learn correctly and be one his way for his language pin!

Please send me a private message ok
Thank you so very much!

Hi, 4vanaga.
Believe it or not, the members have been researching and talking about these postcards in the "Chat in Japanese" thread since April.
Because there is no official sites, it was hard to find the information.

But it looks like they found the answer. Please give a big applause to
ekster_rivero , sayuri  and akikan93

The publisher of the postcards: 渓鹿社 Kei Roku Sha
(The company logo is an image from its name "mountain valley and deer" and printed on where the stamp is attached.)

The illustrator:
(There are several ways to pronounce these characters and we cannot tell which one is correct.)

Some stationary stores (such as 鳩居堂 Kyu kyo do in Ginza) in Tokyo metropolitan area carry them.

I asked a person who sent them, but, unfortunately, he wasn't on a postcrossing.com some months. I have already asked other people, but no one could help.
A big thanks to ekster_rivero, sayuri ,akikan93 and Chieusa!

Hi, Hotaru.
Tell him this card is from 1895!
Here is the translation. If some letters don't display correctly on your screen, please let me know.

(pink letters)
(Dai Nippon Yūbin = Greater Japan's Post =Empire of Japan Postal System)
壱銭 (issen = 1 sen= 1/100 Yen. Sen is the currency unit we no longer use.)
(Yūbin ōfuku hagaki = double-postal postcard, a card that has a sending section and pre-paid reply section attached.)
発信用 (hasshin yō = For sending)

(Kono hyōmen jō wa shuku chō sei
mei wo kagiri mitomu beshi
= Only staying or residence address, last and first names are allowed on this side)

(black letters, written vertically)
(Shimo-rokuban-chō=Lower 6th town)
十番地(Ju-banchi = No.10 place)
(Hikyū-kan, name of a publisher )御中(on-chu= Messrs.)

(faded black letters)
I'm not sure the second letter, but it means, this card was returned to the sender.

(sent postmark - top: They used to write from right to left)
越後(Echigo=Niigata Prefecture)
(Yoshida)
(Year28 May)
使用(used)

(returned postmark)
(Musashi)
東京 (Tokyo)
(Year28 June)
二便 (2nd delivery of the day)

Year28 is 28th year of Meiji period, which is 1895.
So, this is a part of the double-postcard, which was sent from Echigo Yoshida (currently Tsubame City, Niigata) on May 31, 1895 to a publisher called Hikyū-kan in Shimo-Rokubanchō (currently Rokubanchō, Chiyoda-ward, Tokyo), but returned to the sender on June 2nd, 1895 from Tokyo's Musashi Post office.

I hope the mystery is solved for you and your friend ;)
I had fun translating this 117-year-old postcard!
