Where do you find your ad cards?

I found ad cards easily at museums, hostels and stores while I was on a trip to Germany. Now that I'm back in the USA, I'm not really coming across any.

Where do you find your ad cards?

Finding ad cards

We get a lot from a local movie theater which frequently has ad-cards for upcoming movies! This is not a chain theater but a restored 'vintage' theater (2 screens, plush velour rocking chairs, etc).

We also get some from local independent coffee shops.

Museums often have ad-cards for a major travelling exhibit.

Real-estate companies often have nice aerial view-cards.

Two restaurants in nearby Franklin, TN have ad-cards for upcoming wine tastings, special theme-meals, etc.

We could send you a few of these if you would like to trade ??

I usualy find mine in café's and restaurants - but I only take and send those I really like ofcause :)
Also I have gotten alot from my friends shop (chothing and accessery) in Copenhagen: My friend is a photographer and makes many of the photos herself, like this one: http://s3.amazonaws.com/static2.postcrossing.com/postcard/medium/75... The logo of her shop (GreyZone) is on the textside

I LOVE movie ads but there are no such cards in Russia. Only flyers with bad paper.
BTW if you have ad cards to trade just let me know

Do these ad cards usually have blank space on the back, to write on, like regular postcards? I feel like the ones I've picked up in museums and things like that (advertising exhibits) are often full of text on the back!

Sorry, I'm new to Postcrossing, but I love the idea of ad cards so much! I just wanted to know if they're usually easy to write on!

I can easily find ad cards at the tourist office in my town. This region is not very touristic and by giving ad cards they hope to promote this area I guess.. Today my dad received a package of such ad cards, together with his usual bank mail. I don't see the link between the bank (it isn't even a local bank) and free postcards of this region, but ok.
What I'm trying to say is, those ad cards turn up everywhere =P But that's just because Dutch people like free stuff I guess.

@daniellevillano: most of the ad cards I've seen do have some kind of text already, mentioning their website or some other kind of message. But that only takes a small part of the back of the card, so no troubles with writing for me. But my handwriting is very small, maybe that plays a role as well =)

I don't really like to receive ad cards through Postcrossing since I'm paying for the cards I send myself as well, but through an exchange I think I might like it.

I love ad-cards and I find them in the library, cinema and museums, and sometimes in shops.
I think an ad-card must have a little blanco space on the backside to write the address and to stick a stamp. And to write your own name (and profilename or swapname)
When a card does have a fully printed backside, it's actually not a postcard but a flyer.
If somebody likes to swap, check my freecard offers:

and send me an U2U

I like "thriller"movie add cards. But they don't even have them at our local cinema. Went to another city and walked into the cinema, just to see if i could snatch anything there, but they also don't have them. Just my luck, a cinema, but no moviecards.

I find freecards in Budapest and some bigger cities in the the country in some cafés, cinemas, bars and restaurants where the racks have not been removed yet.

The golden age seems to be over here.

Between 2002 and 2007 we had more publishers and many new cards every week but now there is only one called Est Card with 1 or 2 new cards a month.

My gallery if anyone interested. I trade minimum 10 cards a time

In Portugal I find ad cards in some bars or restaurants. And some are just awesome!

In Spain I've looked but I can't find any! Well sometimes I do find it, but the back it's all filled with the ad, there's no space for writing (not even the address)...

I usualy come across a lot of ad cards in the summer, the reason it's a seasonal thing in a lot of places is because of tourism. I live not far from Lake Michigan, and most of the communities are economically depressed, in my town alone unemployment is around 20% for people over 25 and over 50% for people between 18 and 25, so none of the residents have enough money to spend on art galleries and such, but starting in June we get swamped by wealthy people from Chicago who are actually worth spending a lot of advertising money on.
Chances are even if you don't live in a city or a peculiarly wealth town you aren't going to come across a lot of ad cards until tourist season.
(PS if you live in central Michigan hours away from the lakes your pretty much screwed even in our cities they aren't common because of the financial situation)

Have you ever heard of Tower Records? My brother-in-law had a pile of old Tower records Ad cards and he sent them to me. I just had to pay for the postage.

Tower Records in it's original form doesn't exist anymore so I think this was a real find.

Wow, what a lucky find! I used to spend hours on end at Tower Records when I was a teen in California. They even had a Tower Bookstore near one of the record shops where they sold music-related books. I guess I never looked for post cards back then! Enjoy!
