POSTCROSSING MEET-UP IN INDIA - 11/11/11 and 12/11/11
Title: 2nd Postcrossing Meetup - INDIA
Concept: Postcrossing.com
Date: 11th & 12th Nov 2011
Location: MUMBAI GPO, Mumbai
Special Thanks: Mr. D. N. Mehta (President of Philatelic Society of India, and Editor of the Philatelic Journal of India)
Goals:
Bring Postcrosser closer and creating a Postcrossing Family in INDIA.
Attendance and Participation:
• PERFECT 11 Postcrossers attended the event (Matching with the special date)
Amit Surana, Sita Seshadri, Yuktie Jhangiani, Kanthi Srinivasan, Anuradha Shankar, Kevin Desai, Nisha Jha, Manoj Kamat, Kaushal Karkhanis, Aditi
Madkar, Manasi Pundlik.
• Being a Unique date, 11.11.11, got the Special Cancellation from MUMBAI GPO.
• Members participated by bring their best collection and by signing the Meetup cards
• On 11th Nov, Each member were given random addresses to send signed postcards, thus making each one to participate in better way
• Attending members bought many lovely “India Post” Postcards (Maxim Cards) from Mumbai Philately and used it too for sending abroad.
• Walk and talk. Visit to a book Store where one can buy Postcards.
Results:
• Each members had sent 4 signed postcards with special cancellation by INDIA POST, thus resulting into a special postcard for the receiver
and members also got cards to sign and send to personal postcrosser friends
• Well maybe we can’t compare this meet with other countries meet…but hoping that in future we will be able to compare it.
Reactions:
• All attending members were excited and happy for being part of it.
• Participants appreciated the discussion and valued the collection everyone shared.
• With all the excitement members didn’t realise how time flew by, some had to rush back home and the others decided to move on to a nearby restaurant
for some coffee and snacks and more discussions
• Everyone is looking forward for another meetup in order to share more experience and views.
• Attending members were happy and felt like a family meetup.
Learning points:
• How to store the postcard is always a major issue… which was discussed during the meet and everyone looking forward for some better options.
• How to use Stamps on Postcards and Envelope so that it doesn’t spoils the value of philately
• What one can thing and do with Special Numbers and Special Dates, Thanks to Mr. Jigar Desai for showing his awesome collection related to Philately
and other field
Future:
• Hoping for many such successful meetups

The 2nd meet-up of its kind and a meet of 2011...
On Request of few members the Meet will Extend on 12th Nov 2011 too... But the Meetup Postcards (Signed by members) will be sent on 11th Nov, so that
it has the Cancellation of this Unique Date 11/11/11.
