They request to choose the card/s you send in a tag... How would you react?
Hello! I feel a bit bad because I did this twice recently They were for they-offer-multiple-postcards-of-the-same-theme
tags, and out of curiosity, I looked at their trade albums and found certain postcards I liked (and for the second person, they weren't even offering
the themes of half the postcards I liked! ) After I tagged them, I
sent a U2U saying that I tagged them, and I said that I liked certain postcards in their album very much, so would it be possible for me to choose my
own postcards? (And then I specified which postcards I liked.)
BUT, if they would rather choose the postcards themself (the way the tag was supposed to work in the first place ), then that was totally fine with me as well
(I suppose this could happen in normal tags as well... What if you tag somebody and ask for their address; then they look at your postcards and ask,
quite nicely and politely, if they could choose the postcard/s you send them (and then told you which postcard/s they liked); but also said they would
completely understand if you would rather choose the postcard/s yourself? )
To both of those people, I said this very nicely (I think, anyway ) and not in a demanding way at all But my questions are, has
anybody done this before? And/Or, if somebody did this to you, would you be offended? |

I wouldn't be offended and I'd agree I think because I'm always trying to be nice, but I wouldn't like it, it defeats the purpose of the tag.
Everybody could enter the tag just to tag for that special postcard they want and that they know someone has.
Nah, I don't like it.
I don't like it when people come across as demanding.
Although I'm sure you asked in the nicest way possible.
But then ... does it really matter what people do that I'm not aware of, kind of a Schrödinger's cat there ... so I guess I don't care in the end if
no ones asks me |

i would be disappointed, yes ...it is not the purpose of the tags besides, not everyone has online albums
and ...it is demanding, even if expressed nicely, if you expect them to do that and are disappointed if they dont do |

I wouldn't say it is demanding... it is a request, and nicely put, that can be followed or not... why not send someone a card according to their
wishes, when the wish is polite and easy to grant?
What I do not like is when taggers post their wish to each and every tag they do, be is wishlist or not...
... but asking in a U2U does not seem demanding to me

When you tag, you should not be able to choose the card, unless it's an offer tag and then you should only choose from what is offered.
If you want certain cards why not just do a private swap? |

I don't have an opionion on this since I rarely do tags but I do want to know what a Schrödinger's cat is Duri
ok I do have an opinion- personally tags unless it's an offer tag are about surprises to me. though I would not be offended if someone asked for a
certain card. |

I do try to send postcards that I think the sender would like to receive. So I wouldn't be offended if a person asked if I could send a specific
postcard, as that means that the receiver would be happy about the postcard (s)he receives! |

I would not be offended, it's not the right word, but I would propably be a bit irritated... Just because it's not the purpose of the "normal" tag
threads, and to me it just doesn't seem to follow the tag "etiquette".
I'd be irritated, because if I didn't want to send the cards they chose (say, I was saving them for some other tag/swap or I had already chosen the
card I wanted to send), I'd feel bad, no matter how nicely they put their request. I'd also fear that if I didn't send the card they asked, they'd be
dissappointed or wondering why, so I'd feel like I had to make an excuse.
Secondly, in the type of tags you mentioned I don't think it's necessary to offer all the themes that you have in your album. Perhaps some themes are
hard to find or much more expensive, and you don't want to send five of those away in one tag... Just as long as you don't make the tag stuck I think
it's fine to offer the cards you choose you want to send. The same goes for regular tags, the sender chooses the card they want to send, of course
following the tag rules (and hopefully trying also to please the receiver with a nice card!!).

I am actually happy when people choose cards they like from my online album, because in that case I am sure that they will like the card(s) I am
sending to them. Sometimes it takes me long time to choose an appropriate card. And often I also offer to the user who tagged me (for example on the
Germany & any country tag) that he/she chooses a card he/she likes by himself/herself. |
