New members who seems not to understand that they have to registrate their received cards
Hi there.
Have any of you been up to this: Sending a card to a relative new Postcrosser, who might have send 1 - 10 - 15 cards but never registrated any. Your
own card is never registrated either ?
I have tried this several times durring the time. I have tried to contact the Postcrossers. To hear if they had received the card I send them or not.
But no reply at all.
But I just wonder. Because my card could have gone lost in the mail. But I just think that it's a bit strange if these Postcrossers never receives a
single card at all. If they for example have send our 5 - 10 cards themselves. I think that at least some of the cards there was send for them should
have reached them. So I simply wonder if they fully understand that they need to register the cards that they receive themselves.
Have any other Postcrosser been up to something similar? Have you tried to do something? |

In my current expired cards I have one user who sent 5 cards, registered none and was never seen again. It happened to me before as well.
Nowadays I don't do anything about it, I can send 67 cards now, so I simply let expired cards be expired. I have 23 for the last year at the moment
but oh well... I don't want to waste my time and energy. I will not resend the cards and if a user stopped logging in, from my previous experieces
(earlier I asked about my cards and resent them often), they will not come back. |

Put your emailaddress in your PM -> not working, I'll go for this later
If no card registered yet and I have to sent a card I usualy write a congratulations and hurray and wishing my card is the first one registered.
And to have a lot of fun with this new hobby.
If that makes no sense for registering I write a PM after expiring. As many users have strange usernames they may have forgotten their username and/or
the password, and maybe the name of the website [I can not imagine, but it has happened]. Some do not know how to fix that, so I include an
emailaddress so they can contact me. PM's can only be answered if you can log in to your account. Some of them realy do sent a message to my
hotmailaddress! Saying thank you for the card. One was telling she started a new account because of forgotten username and or password.
Cards to long-travel countries -> some users have moved house and mail is not forwarded. Especialy now in summer a lot of students turn home to
parents and post is waiting for several weeks. Next studyyear they may have another location of school and or livingroom. You can ask them if they
checked their last address when moved.
The first thing is to get emailcontact, if you have this you can ask more about solutions in your second or third replay. I do enjoy this
investigations, as I am curious why people left, is everything well with them? How is their life doing at the moment.
Sometimes I have a nice chat - while the card is still travelling. Sometimes they offer to sent a card back, because of feeling sorrow. That is not
realy what I want, my main mission is to get the card registered! |

I did so more than once, went fine.
I completely gave up sending e-mails or resending cards to users when the card is expired. Expired is expired, no cry over spilt milk.

My boyfriend wanted to start postcrossing a month before he moved to his current address. I adviced him to start an 'inactive' profile and we sent
more than 10 cards with this account. Then we activated the account, he moved in and started receiving and registering cards. The numbers are evening
out slowly.
Of course it might be a rare case. I'm sure there are people out there who move to different addresses without changing their profiles, don't know
they have to register or simply lose their enthusiasm for Postcrossing early. But there's not much we can do about them. |

Couple of days ago I got a person like this. 15 cards sent, recieved(or rather registered)- none. She signed up over 70 days ago, and she does visit
postcrossing site almost everyday. I've sent my postcard but I have bad feelings about it.. I'm almost prepared for it to be my first expired card
ever. |

Can you use the Contact button on the main site and tell us about this member so Postcrossing can have a look at them please?

I've got one too. She's been a member for 9 months. Sent 10 cards. Registered 1.
Unfortunately it wasn't my card she registered
I sent my card 76 days ago and lately have sent a pm to ask if maybe she had overlooked my (all) her cards but I didn't hear back.
It bothers me a little, because other than the cost to me of the card and the stamps it also costs me a card from the post crosser who would draw my
name when that girl registered mine. She didn't register it so my name didn't get drawn. I sent one to someone else when the first card expired and
will get a card (hopefully) in return for that one but that's still 2 cards and 2 postage in order to get 1 back.
It's a small thing but it kinda bugs me that some people just faff around with their commitment.
9 months and only 1 card received out of 10? Something isn't right somewhere. Actually, she may have had more than 10... The first one expires, it's
a resend and she gets that one (maybe the one sent too) but by then her name has been drawn again because the first sent to her didn't get registered.
So now she has potentially 3 cards for 1 sent.
Multiply that by 9 and there's a lot of cards right there. Potentially.
Who'd have thought postcards could cause this much sleepless nights for a person!?

Postcrossing has automatic checks in place for this sort of activity. Her address is not being given out once she failed the checks.
Your address is given out once that postcard to her expired (automatic checks again and you passed it). You have a postcard coming to you that allowed
for that expired one to her.
Please report her to Postcrossing using the Contact button.
