is it possible to mark too many favourites?

I have loads of favourites marked, partly because I hope it will enable other Postcrossers to see the type of cards that I like.

I am worrying now in case I have too many and that it might be over-burdening the system? Is there an ettiquette about how many favourites one should have at any one time?

Maybe I should go an thin them out a little, but it is hard now I have marked them. I don't really mark so many new ones now.

There was one person (I say "was" because she seems to have changed her user name) who had tens of thousands of favourites. I've certainly seen plenty of others in the thousands.

You have only a few more than I have and I don't think it's too many at all, but I'll wait to see if there's an official reply. And if necessary I'll get out my pruning knife.

Short answer is no.

Long answer is yes :D

There does reach a point when too many is well 'too many'. The search database slows the whole site down when a member has 'too many'.

Keep the amount under a few thousand and all is good.

If you have too many you will find that members stop looking after the 2nd or 3rd page anyway.

And she substantially slowed the Postcrossing web site down as members looked at her faves.

She agreed to Postcrossing removing some of them and not to be so prolific in Faveing.

She changed her membername btw.

I think I know who you are talking about. She had favorited almost all my sent cards at one point, but then seemed to stop. Maybe, like you say, she changed her username.

She still has almost 100,000 favourites. :D Considering she had over 300,000, if I remember correctly, that's over two thirds less though. And she hasn't favourited any of my cards since she changed her name.
(I sent her a postcard once, so I know what she changed her name into.)

I used to try to keep my favourites around 600, but I didn't manage. There are simply too many great cards out there! Every now and then I go through them all and delete a few, but I'm still close to having 1000 now ...

I also know the person with the hundreds of thousands of favs... I actually got a little bit sad when she stopped fav'ing - I miss seeing her on my daily "It's a favorite"-mails :rodent:

I do miss her as well. If I found a Hurray! message and the next day had no one favourited my beautiful sent card - then always P***B showed up and made me happy with her favourite. I think she had a good function in postcrossing by making a lot of us happy. Then suddenly the number of my favourited cards dropped down....
If they all have one by one de-favourited it was a full-time job.

Yes, I miss her too!
It is always nice when people notice and appreciate a card that I have been choosing with care, as I always do.

Now I have another question;since I do not want to have so many favorites on my wall, I also used to rightclick-and-copy them for my own joy and map. Now this seems not possible anymore. Is this blocked for some reason or is my mouse to tired? I can copy on other sites the pictures though!
