@Mosshumla: wow, that was fast indeed!

Just a few moments ago, my 26th card registered in the same country continuously... and I have 9 more traveling (and 3 expired, booh!).

Another of my Russian ones has arrived after only 18 days -they certainly seem to be quicker than they used to be.

All my cards, apart from one to China, are now travelling to Russia. I am nearly always lucky with the profiles I draw from Russia and am able to send a card which exactly matches their wishlist. So I am more than happy to continue with Repeated Countries.

And my awesome none-expired-to-Russia-in-the-past-year stats just took a nosedive. Two expired to Russia in the past 2 days. :( Might still be registered at some point though, fingers crossed.

Apart from one, all of the cards from my 10-card bunch to Russia have been registered , took them between 16 and 37 days to arrive.

Now I do not have the option ticked, but I still have:

Russia 6
Germany 5
USA 3
Japan 2
Netherlands 2

Only Spain, Belarus, Poland and China as separate countries.

Seems to be common if you leave the "repeated countries" option always ticked. For instance see this American user's sent postcards:
https://www.postcrossing.com/user/407Flowers

I drew a German address a few days ago though, so my Russia chain will be broken ;)

@kentish belle, clientje: I also find the Russian profiles I get quite interesting
But a few apparently went on vacation and I have some expired and soon-to-be expired cards... But I guess that's a summer phenomenon common to a lot of countries.

You are right, and I came across another example of it: https://www.postcrossing.com/user/jtills

I wonder what percentage of Postcrossers send to repeated countries as their norm (meaning they never untick the box), versus the ones who do it occasionally (sometimes they tick it and sometimes they don't), versus those who don't do it at all.

That would indeed be interesting, but it's probably impossible to find out. How would you detemine those that occasionally tick the box, like me?

Last month's stats: 51.9 % (= 40) of my sent cards went to Russia, with a median travel time of 20 days. The last four of my cards to Russia took only 10, 11, 11 and 12 days though - they were all mailed on the same day and all had only Latin addresses.

I just happened to notice that over the years I have already sent more than 1,000 cards to Russia - more than twice as many as to any other country. Russia only ranks third in my received list though, where the Netherlands lead before the US and Russia. However, if I leave out the first few years and only look at the stats from 2012 onward, Russia leads in received cards as well.

Yes, I like playing around with stats for no good reason. ;)

1000 cards to Russia wow
Stats are fun :D
Well, except for my average travel time - it has still not recovered from that card which got lost (in Latin characters) and which I resent (in Cyrillic) => arrived in 1 month.
Let's look at the upside: there's some margin for progress left :P

I've now got 9 cards traveling to Russia, I think I drew 10 consecutive Russiab addresses. I might switch repeated countries off for a few cards now, then get back to a full Russian travel list, and so on. I think that will work for me :)

Last time I drew a Dutch address in the middle of a bunch of Russian ones, and today, with both repeated countries and Germany ticked (!), the first three addresses I got were in Hong Kong, Brazil and China - whaaat?! I actually unticked both options afterwards and continued with random addresses - and got two more from Hong Kong, but also Chile, Costa Rica and Mexico. Very strange! :D

Well, after reading your post I went and drew 10 addresses.

All 10 of these cards will go to Russia.

You are lucky!

I now have a card travelling to Russia.

For 29 or 30 days now.

It has not arrived yet.

And it is in kyrillic letters.

Just when I was really getting annoyed with the whole repeat countries thing (another to Russia just expired, and one more is 2 days away from it...), a card to Russia just now arrived in only 12 days. :frog:

I'm having a very hard time making up my mind about repeat countries! I've been switching it on and off the past couple of weeks...

I do that all the time. :D It doesn't have to be all or nothing, helping a little is better than not helping at all. And there's still nothing wrong with liking variety and wanting a few cards to arrive within a week from time to time, too. ;)

I was also amazed two weeks ago when I drew a Finnish and a Czech address in a row with the repeated option. I couldn't believe my eyes and had to double-check that there wasn't some malfunction in my postcrossing account. :D

Btw, what's the most exotic location you have sent a card in Russia? Over the weekend my card to Republic of Udmurtia was registered. :) I have also sent cards to Murmansk and Arkhangelsk.

I got a Taiwanese address today mixed in with the Russian ones. Not that big a surprise ... but still, it seems I can no longer call the repeated countries option "sending to Russia" - sending mostly to Russia, maybe. :D

I started at the end of July, first filling up all slots with repeated countries off, then turning on the option and sending cards to Russia whenever some of the travelling cards were registered. That way I still have cards registered regularly, even though most travel for a longer time.

Now the last of the batch without repeated countries are either registered or expired. So, when I was drawing addresses today, I expected all of my cards would now travel to Russia. But suddenly, after 11 Russian addresses, I got one to Japan. So now I have 23 cards travelling to Russia and 1 to Japan. :D (Plus 2 expired to Russia, one to Taiwan and one to Turkey.)

In September, only 39.5% (=30) of my sent cards went to Russia, taking a median of 17 days. Fast month, this September. :) Onto October, then! Currently I have 62 cards travelling, 44 of which are heading to Russia.
