Hello fellow Canadians...I'm advising you all to hold on to your hats because our Postal rates increase January 14, 2019!

Domestic Lettermail will change from .90 cents to $1.05 for a single stamp.
For Booklets, coils or panes the price changes from .85 to .90 cents.

U.S.A. Lettermail will change from $1.20 to $1.27 to mail a postcard or letter.

International mail changes from $2.50 to $2.65 to mail a postcard or letter.

Sorry for the bad news.

Czech post has increased the Europe tariff for ordinary letter
Postcard shipping has increased from 35 CZK (1.36 € ) to 39 CZK (1.51 € ) (within Europe)
Rest of World - from 41 CZK (1.59 € ) to 45 CZK (1.75 € )

Its not so much, but of course :flaming:they didnt announce it. And higher weight => higher postage.

From the 1st March, domestic delivery of letters and postcards has been changed to four days. If the sender wants to their post be delivered quicker, they can use a Plus sticker that also offers a chance to track your sent item. When the letter/card has a Plus sticker attached, they are delivered within two days. The Plus sticker doesn't include mailing fees and cannot be used alone. The price of one Plus sticker is 1,50 .

So summary:
Domestic delivery (4 days): 1,50
Domestic delivery (2 days): 3,00 (one domestic stamp + one Plus sticker)

https://www.posti.fi/private-news/english/current/2019/20190201_plus...

Also, when you read the service terms of international mail and parcels on the same page, you can notice Posti has changed its delivery terms for international outgoing mail:

"4. International letter mail services
4.1. Priority Letter
A Priority Letter dropped off at the mailing location required
by the Service on weekdays (MonFri) by the time indicated is
delivered from Finland towards the destination country on the
following next weekday or otherwise with the first available
connection."

And
"4.2. Economy Letter
An Economy Letter dropped off at the mailing location
required by the Service on weekdays (MonFri) by the time indicated is delivered from Finland towards the destination country within a week of mailing."

So they have just decided to keep Economy letters in storage up to one week before sending them to the destination... :puzzled:

The big increase in Germany is coming :(
Effective from July 1st, 2019 until the End of 2021

Domestic postcard will rise 15 cents 0,45 -> 0,60
All domestic letters will rise 10 cents each:
standard (small envelope, max. 20g) 0,70->0,80
compact (small envelope, up to 50g) 0,85-> 0,95
large (up to 500g, size up to DIN A4) 1,45 -> 1,55

All international mail will rise 20 cents each:
postcard or standard letter 0,90 -> 1,10
compact letter 1,50 -> 1,70
large letter 3,70 -> 3,90

sources: FAZ (newspaper, paywall): https://www.faz.net/aktuell/wirtschaft/unternehmen/das-briefporto-st...

German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) still has to approve, but after a long fight they already approved an increase of ~10% weighted average), so this will be only formal.

What disgusts me the most is that DeutschPost is hitting these "weighted average" numbers by *seriously* increasing the costs for private senders while at the same time (if reports are right) keeping the costs for bulk/junk and business mail senders stable or even decreasing them. :flaming:

This is really going to impact my Postcrossing activities, and I imagine I am not the only one. :(

To my dear German Postcrossers, I do feel for you and that is quite a rise, but I would be very happy if Canada changed our international rates to 1.10 Euro because I would be saving a whole Canadian dollar on my international stamps.

What I don't understand is, all postal services across the globe complain that letter mail distribution is down, but parcel post is up, so why all the increases. How can this service say they are loosing money when parcel post is up by huge numbers...the Postal services are still making money! Why don't they combine the two services, instead of having two separate divisions? Then we would all save.

In the end the German changes are better for postcrossers than previously announced. FAZ was wrong on one change, the new international postcard rate:

Domestic changes as previously announced:
Domestic postcard will rise 15 cents: 0,45 -> 0,60
All domestic letters will rise 10 cents each:
standard (small envelope, max. 20g) 0,70 -> 0,80
compact (small envelope, up to 50g) 0,85 -> 0,95
large (up to 500g, size up to DIN A4) 1,45 -> 1,55

CHANGED: International postcard will rise only 5 cents: 0,90 -> 0,95
All international letters will rise 20 cents each:
standard letter 0,90 -> 1,10
compact letter 1,50 -> 1,70
large letter 3,70 -> 3,90

source: Deutsche Post (https://www.deutschepost.de/de/a/aenderungen-2019.html).

Still pending approval by German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), but now that these changes are officially announced by Deutsche Post, it's likely that they are final.

I think this is quite good news for us postcrossers in Germany, after all. :cool:

On June 14, 2019, Canada Post is proposing to increase the price of a stamp by two cents next year, 2020.
If this goes through, it will take effect January 13, 2020. I wonder what they will be tacking onto our U.S. post and our International postage stamps? They never just increase the regular post without increasing all.:(

Russia
If we talk about Economy or Basic tariff (since Jan 2019) then it is
- domestic: postcard 18 roubles = $0.28, letter (up to 20 grams) 23 roubles = $0.35
- international: postcard or letter (up to 20 grams) 45 roubles = $0.69, par avion 50 roubles = $0.77

I took the currency rate $1 = 65 roubles at this moment.

New prices from Australia from today:

Zone 1 New Zealand - $2.3
Zone 2 Asia Pacific - $2.5
Zone 3 Rest of the World - $3.2

All the prices went up 20 cents, but they don't have any 20 cent stamps for sale on the website...
