18-20 October 2019 - Second Postcrossing meeting in Begur (Costa Brava, near Girona, Catalonia)

Benvinguts / Welcome to the second Postcrossing meeting in the Empordà!

CITY/REGION: Begur (Baix Empordà, Catalonia)
DATE: 18-20 October 2019
TIME: 5 pm
MEETUP PLACE: Town Hall square

ESTA DISCUSIÓN DEBE SER EN INGLÉS. PARA DISCUTIR EN ESPAÑOL: / AQUESTA DISCUSSIÓ HA DE SER EN ANGLÈS. PER DISCUTIR EN CATALÀ: https://forum.postcrossing.com/viewthread.php?tid=121681

THIS THREAD MUST BE IN ENGLISH. TO DISCUSS IN SPANISH OR CATALAN, USE THIS OTHER THREAD: https://forum.postcrossing.com/viewthread.php?tid=121681

Dear Postcrossing friends,
the first meetup in the charming village of Begur (in the touristic province of L’Empordà, on the world-famous Costa Brava, in Catalonia), held on 20 October 2018 (https://forum.postcrossing.com/viewthread.php?tid=120428), was such a success that Carol (https://www.postcrossing.com/user/Laflores ) and I are happy to invite everybody to join us there again in October 2019!

There will be two exciting improvements for the second edition:
1) the meeting will last from Friday to Sunday (full programme to come in the following months), so we will have more time to sign postcards but, most importantly, to have lots of fun and explore the area together;
2) we will create a Meeting Hostel at the very affordable and welcoming Alberg Solidança (https://alberg.solidanca.cat/ ) in the nearby town of Palafrugell where Ricard/peludet and I already stayed in 2018. I hope we will be able to have the full hostel, or at least a full floor, for us (depending on availability, I will get in touch with the hostel soon). This means we will be able to spend the evening (and night?) together, in the beautiful garden or in one of the common rooms of the hostel, talking about postcards and having even more fun together! This will also make it easier to organise all the activities, since we will always be leaving and coming back together.
The average price per person will be 25 euros per night. Read more about costs in the post below and tell us how many nights you will spend at the Alberg.

Like for the first edition, we will be able to rely on the precious support of the Begur Municipality and Tourist Office again.

Begur is pretty easy to reach by car or public transport from Barcelona (direct buses from the airport and from the city centre), Girona (change in Palafrugell), and France, so come and enjoy the flavours of authentic Catalonia with us!

We hope that this second edition will be an even more overwhelming success than the already wonderful first edition.

Benvinguts a Catalunya! Welcome to Catalonia!

PRICES OF THE ACCOMMODATION
If we manage to have enough people staying at Alberg Solidança, we will get a group fare of approximately 25 euros per person per night (that is about 50 euros for two nights).
The Alberg has double, triple, quadruple rooms and a 7-bed room with bunk beds. In case anybody wouldn't like to share a room, they would have to pay for a whole room (e.g. the price of a double room for one person would be 50 euros/night).
Please tell us if you plan to stay at the Alberg and for how many nights.

FOOD AT THE ALBERG
Alberg Solidança has offered to provide a cook or a catering service so that we can have dinner together there. The price of a full menu will be around 10-15 euros per person. More details will be given in the coming months. :)

First tentative meeting schedule!

Hello folks!
It's been more than a month since I last posted an update, but it's because we have been working hard to come up with this first tentative meeting schedule!
As you know from my previous posts, this second edition of the Begur meetup will take place over a full week-end and we will all stay at the Alberg Solidança in Palafrugell. While everybody will be allowed to participate even just on Saturday, we encourage you to take part in the full programme! :)

Can't wait for the meetup! I'm going to be around right from United Kingdom for the vacation and wondering what the weather would be like. https://ru.needcalc.com/weather/spain says it's around 22 C. Is that really so?

¡Hola :D! I see I'm already on the list :-) We can't be there on Friday at 5:00 pm because of my daughter's school but we may be there before dinner. We hope to spend the whole weekend with you all!
I need to know if we have to make the reservation at the hostel directly, or tell you.
