11. TandemStoker. I received the following.

3. Cruzin. Happy to add this Keep Calm and Plant a Tree to my collection! Yes to saving the bees! I’d love to own bees (and chickens and goats) but our HOA probably wouldn’t allow that. Thank you, Lori!

4. AngelDreamer. “The Meet” of penny farthings! That’s fun to say … LOL! I’d try a unicycle before a penny farthing. I’d fall off trying to get on and fall of after getting on! Thank you, Cynthia!

12. FlagGazer. A beautifully-dressed woman riding her Kynoch Cycle. Oh your drive to see the wildflowers sounds so peaceful. My cup of tea! We got a lot of rain yesterday and we’re expecting more today. Thank you, Cynthia!

19. kclou13. “Be Young - Ride A Bike!” I believe that’s true. We’ve been so busy with home improvement stuff we haven’t had time to ride our bike. Fun paper clip washi. I haven’t seen those before. Thank you, Cassandra!

28. Alm74. Assorted herbel teas in tiny heart-shaped ceramic dishes! Love! Did you get to do some site seeing while you visited Colorado? Thank you, Amber!

#13 reporting in with cards from:

#1 cawindt - Thank you for the recipe for Kentucky Bourbon Balls. Tony is rather fond of bourbon, too, so I don't think I'd have much luck making the bourbon balls either!

#3 cruzin – Thank you for the Texas Chili recipe. I’ll bet none of your neighborhood chilis taste alike! Sounds like a fun time. Great ladybug sticker!

#4 Angeldreamer – Needles Drive Tunnel in Custer State Park, Black Hills, SD which is described as appearing too small to drive through, but will accommodate a bus. Very cool! You always manage to squeeze so much on the postcard! Haven’t watched Mr. Mom in years either. Thank you!

#11 TandemStoker - Thank you for the recipe for Arizona Margarita. We just went out to dinner along with one of our daughters and her family at a local Mexican restaurant we all like. Margaritas are free with a dinner entree!

#12 FlagGazer - Thank you so much for the red capped mushrooms you sent. They arrived safely in the envelope! Wish I could actually see these in the wild. The rain has definitely brought out lush greens and vivid flowers. I just wish it hadn't drowned our tomato plants!

#19 kclou13 - a lovely coffee grinder, bag of beans and spices. Thank you! We bought an old coffee grinder from our next door neighbors when they were planning to move. One of my daughters confiscated it a couple of years ago when she bought a house. I kind of miss it!

#20 serafaina - Thank you for the Emperor penguin and chick you sent. I'm glad the post card eater is under control. We have enough problems with the postal machines eating our postcards let alone our pets!

#25 Gbnaabennett – A wonderful basket of unusual mushrooms! Thank you for the card and I hope the lemon curd and fruit cookies were a hit! They sound yummy!

#27 Hyshu65 – The Austin Skyline reflected in water and a popular quote - "Not all those who wander are lost", a line from the poem "All that is gold does not glitter", written by J. R. R. Tolkien for The Lord of the Rings.

Mood: dismayed about current lack of checks and balances in national government

[*] posted on 19-6-2019 at 12:27 AM

Today the letter carrier delivered:

#1 cawindt - black-and-white night view of Louisville's skyline over the river. I'm glad your summer grading marathon for AP US History got moved to a city you like better.

#11 TandemStoker - a colorful illustrated map card of California's San Joaguin Valley. We were mostly at the edges of that valley on our trip. I'm afraid we drove through some of the cities on the eastern part of the valley without stopping on our way to national parks in the mountains. Then we returned along the coast.

#25 Gbnaabennett - a very cute illustrated bunny who is drawing in a tiny book with a very large pencil. Your dessert sounds scrumptious.

#27 Hyshu65 - a bright red '61 or '62 Corvette (according to my husband) convertible, and signs and symbols from Route 66. Is is still a great drive?

Thanks, everyone!

#19 kclou13 - a traditional Mongolian ger. It would be fascinating to visit that region. Hope you get your birthday wish to go camping. I went camping often as a child, and as a parent. Now I prefer to sleep in a bed (though a futon on the floor in Japan is fine).

Thank you from #16.

#17 reporting in, 2 cards:

#1 cawindt Kentucky horse racing card. I've only ever been through Kentucky, never really visited. There is a horse racing (harness racing) on the other side of Pittsburgh from me...but I have never been. Neat vintage stamps, only one of which got postmarked.

#11 Tandemstoker Yellowstone NP. Old Faithful Inn, with Old Faithful erupting in the background. Picture from about 1916. My parents loved root beer and root beer floats. I have never liked root beer, and really have to be "in the mood" to eat and enjoy ice cream.

NARR June 2019 – Report #5

#01 cawindt: sent a beautiful nighttime shot of the Louisville, Kentucky skyline printed on glossy card stock - which didn’t smudge! Miracle of miracles! Great city. I've only been there once, but lots of fun. Crazy assortment of stamps, as per usual. Thanks!

#03 cruzin: sent a Lantern Press card showing a colorful rainbow dove taking flight in celebration of Pride Month. Thanks, also a great assortment of stamps. Thanks!

#04 AngelDreamer: sent a hilarious card of a mobile Ronald Reagan puppet/sandwich board. Ronnie’s trench coat opens up, ala creepy old man flasher, exposing his well-endowed MX missile. (Unfortunately, it’s pointing downwards!) Very funny political ‘80s card. Ahhh, the good ole days! Thanks!

#16 Hootnoodle: sent a pro-choice quote from Marge Piercy arguing the state can’t make claim to the body like they do so many other exploited “natural” resources. And your point about corpses is well taken! As for the Dems… not Gillabrand, for sure. Thanks!

#25 Gbnaabennett: sent a funny “deep fake” card from the Spam Museum, showing a top-secret WWII military base, allegedly called Spamville located in some undisclosed area. It shows soldiers moving cans of Spam around the encampment. Just nuts. Thanks!

You can view all these incoming June cards HERE...

Just waiting on cards from: 07, 08, 11, 21, 24 and 26

A couple more awesome cards have found their way into my mailbox over the past couple days. Thank you to:

#11 TandemStoker for the awesome LP Founding Fathers pop art card from the National Constitution Center, one of the many places I'll be visiting this summer. Perfect card!

#25 gbnaabennett for the great Elvis Presley birthplace card. I rode by that once long, long ago. And thank you for the summer berry pie recipe! Love the stamps.

If anyone wants to see the postcard-eater (and the rest of my pets as well as other random pets) our Instagram is @casablacksburg.

#20 reporting in:
--"In event of bourbon, this postcard may be used as a coaster" from Louisville, KY from #1 cawindt (I presented at a sci-fi/horror convention there a few years ago, really should go back)
--The NC part of the Blue Ridge Parkway from #21 queenkhaos (and that's a good quote to remember)

Thanks all! :D

Another card arrived in today's mail, and I found two more cards that had fallen off the side table in the dining room. (I blame the cats for that one.) :D

Thank you:

#4 angeldreamer for the fabulous Reagan protest card from the 80s. I agree. The media has always been critical of the president; however, I'd argue with the Internet and social media, such criticism is far more prevalent to the average person today than 30 years ago. Great stamps!

#12 FlagGazer for the beautiful view of Seattle.

#21 QueenKhoas for the Appalachian State University (North Carolina) card. Nice quote.

This will likely be my last update here for another couple weeks.
