Hi there!
I am a Seattle Postcrosser interested in attending this October event, my first with Postcrossing.
I've seen the list of items to bring. How do these events usually work?
Cheers,
- Kristine

Hi Kristine!
The way these work up here is that you just show up, grab a seat at the table, and then pass your cards around to be signed, and sign the cards that
are put in front of you! You might want to bring a water bottle too. That's the gist of it.
Heidi (hkappespc) is arranging new cards for the 150th anniversary of the postcard. I think Noel is designing them. Noel was the founder of the group
but now she lives in a German City! Anyway, you can contact Heidi through Postcrossing or through Max & Co Post or through Facebook to ask about
the cards if you want to get some beforehand. If you are on Facebook you can join our group Puget Sound Postcrossing Group.
I haven't talked to Alan yet but sometimes he brings really interesting stamps to our meet ups. I tend to address my cards and add the postage stamps
though before the meet ups. Some people stamp their cards afterwards and some people don't even address them until afterwards. I guess its up to
you.
I tend to address my cards to people I've met through Postcrossing already. Sometimes I address cards to other friends. Other people will send out
meetup cards to official Postcrossing recipients and will include the Postcard ID no. Again this is up to you.
Another thing I do is put my return address label on my cards so that when we are done signing what will be roughly 200 cards this time, all the cards
I'm planning to mail out will return to me. You could put a little sticker in the corner, or put "Greetings from Kristine" at the top. Somehow it all
works itself out!
Hope this helps! We look forward to meeting you!!

Great!! It will be nice to meet you Moonbeam01 and Pineapplemoon!
Heidi, hkappespc, has the design now for the meetup card from Noel, nofrodelius. If you can find our Puget Sound Postcrossing Group or if you can
contact Heidi through Postcrossing you may be able to pre-order cards before the meetup. Other than that there is not much to do right now. We may
need help setting up the room beforehand and putting chairs/tables away afterwards. Not sure yet.
This is going to be so much fun!!!

I just posted photos of the meetup postcard on the FB event page https://www.facebook.com/events/1330080153813241/
You probably meed to join our FB group in order to view it, so request to join and I will approve you.
U2U me with questions or if you want to order cards. I am hoping that there will be enough, but so many people are pre-ordering large quantities that
you might want to pre-order too. |

I am new as well. I still don't understand what you mean by signing 20 or 200 cards and passing them around. I've never been to a postcrossing Meetup
or snail mail Meetup. I'm in Olympia and probably won't be attending but have always wanted to be with other Puget sound snailmailer and post
crossers. I'm just not able to drive all that way. I did request to join the Facebook group :-) |

Hi Lila84! I guess I wasn't really clear. What we do at these meet ups besides chatting is we sign each other's cards. Then its like the recipient got
the card from everyone at the meetup! So if say there are 10 people, and each person brought 20 cards, everyone ends up signing 200 cards!
Puget Sound Postcrossing Group meets every other month, so if you can't make this meetup there will be others. In addition there are meet ups on the
Olympic Peninsula or Kitsap Peninsula too. There are people who attend both.
Hope to meet you in person either at this meetup or one in the near future! |

Dear Comette and everyone in Washington,
We'd like to invite everyone organizing meetings around the 150th anniversary of postcards to do something a little bit extra on the day, if possible.
Here are some suggestions:
- Broadcast a little video message from your meeting, either live or by recording a video and uploading it. For example, sing or wish the postcard a
happy birthday, or show the world what your celebrations look like.
- Connect with another meetup happening simultaneously in another location, so that a small moment of connection can be established between the 2 groups of
postcard enthusiasts! Remember to reach out to the respective meetup organizer beforehand, in order to exchange contacts and sort out a suitable time.
- Take pictures and share them with us! Tag them #150yearsofpostcards or send them to us on social media or via email, so that we can share them with the whole community. We would like everyone to feel included and to show the world what the celebrations
of this special milestone look like.
Most of all, we hope you enjoy the event and this special day together — it's a birthday party, so remember to relax and have fun.
Good luck, and long live the postcard!

I was so happy to meet everyone!
I'm wondering who all received a card already from the meetup and how many signatures or stamps were on the back? I didn't send one to myself.
