We need a meme for "the look the customs officer gives you when you declare $200 worth of postcards and nothing else" when coming home from an international trip haha.

Do you have to do that? Or is that a US thing? (you have to do it when returning to the US? I never declared anything in my life, but I've been spolit by the EU - but even when I travel further afield... -_-)

US customs requires you to fill out a form declaring *everything* brought into the country from abroad (for US residents) or everything brought that will remain in the US (for visitors). I recall filling out similar forms for Canada and Japan but can't recall if they ask you for specific items/amounts. So yeah I guess it's a USA thing. >_<

Yes, in some Asian countries that's the policy as well.

Murphy's law is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong". Let's formulate Murphy’s laws for postcrossing!

1. The desired card will be found when you turn over all available cards.

2. While you are busy with family affairs, nobody pays attention to you, everyone will need you as soon as you do postcrossing.

3. When buying stamps, the ones you need will surely disappear from the sale.

4. The growth rate of the collection of postcards is directly proportional to the space reserved for it.

5. A long-stored postcard can be discarded. As soon as you do this, you will immediately need it.

6. As a rule, you are asked to send something that you do not like at all.

7. The best ideas for choosing postcards and design options come on business days from 9.00 to 17.30.

8. The discount promotion at the postcard store will end the day before you go there.

9. If the postcard or set of postcards is good, they stop releasing.

10. As soon as there is inspiration and time for postcrossing, some Murphy's Law will certainly appear!

If reminds me of the day I was in London and there was a bag check for entering a Christmas market :
Guy : Wow, your handbag is heavy. What do you have in there ?
Me : Postcards.
Guy : What ?
- Postcards.
- WHAT ?
- You know, those things you write on, put a stamp and send. Postcards.
- No, I mean the big, heavy parcel here.
- Yes, postcards.
- Impossible.
- You don't know me.
Guy opens the parcel, an avalanche of postcards happens.
- Those are POSTCARDS !
- Yeah, I told you...

You are a real postcrosser, if:

• your household finds postcards throughout the house

• you know the postmen of your office in person and by name

• your clothes are squeezed in a cupboard in order to free space for another box with postcards, stamps, envelopes...

• your holidays require changes in the route in order to visit shops with postcards at the place of stay

• the last words your partner hears before going to bed are: "Just one more card!"

I've seen a couple that have a very long, specific wishlist like -

Please send me:

* an obscure cartoon from 1989 (no duplicates)
* cards with endangered lizards and ONLY endangered lizards, NO commonplace lizards
* nothing involving the letters F, M, Y, Q or H - I hate these letters :flaming:

and then a little message that reads "if you don't have any of these, just send me an unwritten card in an envelope."

:wow:
