Test: How obsessed are you with postcrossing?

If you constantly sit on the postcrossing forum, notice some oddities and always look for postcards, then you may be obsessed with postcrossing. Count how many times you answer “Yes” to your questions:

1. When meeting a person, you are not asking for his name, but telling him about your hobby.

2. You choose schools for your children based on how close they are to the postcard store.

3. You send your husband to drive through several post offices in search of rare stamps.

4. You take cards with you when traveling.

5. You know by the names of all the main postcrossers in your country.

6. You prefer postcrossing to going to a party.

9. Go with your husband to dinner at a restaurant and find that you are talking only about round robins.

10. You dream that you received a postcard from a rare country.

11. A birthday or anniversary is not a holiday, but an occasion to receive a set of postcards as a gift.

12. The word "tag" does not mean a label for you.

13. You know lots of illustrators.

14. You forgot what class your children are studying in, what subjects they can take in exams.

15. You missed a significant date because you became the host of a new round robin.

16. You get up before everyone else and immediately go to the postcrossing forum.

17. You have a collection of postcards that no one can send because you don't like them.

18. You check your mailbox every time you pass by.

19. There is no space left in your notebook for the letter "P".

20. You do not know what is happening in the series that your friends discuss.

21. You say that you do not feel well, take sick leave and choose postcards in stores all day.

Results:

5 or less. You have everything under control so far. Postcrossing is an important part of your life, but not the only one. And in fact, what's wrong with the extra time to choose postcards?

5 - 15 You are, of course, obsessed with postcards, with a slight glimpse of normal behavior. You could even work, but do you need it? Better give away your hobby all the time.

15 - 20 But you have a clinical case. Is there a substitute for your favorite leisure drug? We don’t think so. Welcome to the obsessed postcrossing community.

I got a 5 on your quiz! I mustn't be obsessed enough...

(also you missed out numbers 7 and 8 - do I win points for noticing this?) ;)

22. The mail carrier delivers all postcards to you, even those addressed to someone else in the neighborhood, because you're "the person who gets all the postcards."
23. If you are in an afternoon meeting at work, you check the time, worrying if the meeting will end in time to get to the post office before closing.
24. When travelling, you spend more time shopping for postcards than sightseeing.
25. When you learn useful phrases before going to a country where you don't speak the language, the phrases include "where is the post office?" and "commemorative stamps."
26. You ask all your friends to visit rare countries, just so they can send you a postcard.
27. You get disappointed if your friends bring a postcard back for you in their suitcase instead of mailing it from the country of origin.
28. You look up how much it costs to visit Pitcairn Island because you'd really like to add that country to your collection.
29. You discover you know more about postal rates than the post office workers.

...you go to a job interview, and you have to walk inside the hospital through the other side. There is a canteen and a stationery shop. You notice the stationery shop has postcards, they look decent and they are reasonably priced.

On the way back from the interview, you stop to buy postcards!

(If I get the job, I'll walk past that shop a lot. If I don't, it's unlikely I will go there again. So you know, just in case...
I did that when I got my previous job, it was in a different city from the one I lived in, so I bought lots of postcards thinking I wouldn't go back very often. But I got the job and lived there for 2 years :D).

We need a meme for "the look the customs officer gives you when you declare $200 worth of postcards and nothing else" when coming home from an international trip haha.

If reminds me of the day I was in London and there was a bag check for entering a Christmas market :
Guy : Wow, your handbag is heavy. What do you have in there ?
Me : Postcards.
Guy : What ?
- Postcards.
- WHAT ?
- You know, those things you write on, put a stamp and send. Postcards.
- No, I mean the big, heavy parcel here.
- Yes, postcards.
- Impossible.
- You don't know me.
Guy opens the parcel, an avalanche of postcards happens.
- Those are POSTCARDS !
- Yeah, I told you...

Today I have an interesting story for you :)

in August, as part of the tag, I sent a postcard to a user MaggieStNJ from USA. And this morning I received from her such a message:

"I received your card today.

It was forwarded to me in an envelope as it was incorrectly delivered to another address.

The other person lives about 100 miles away in Los Angeles - and is another Post Crossing member!!"

Do you think, is it an amazing coincidence or the manifestation of this rule? :D

I'd think it was stuck to another postcard to the member in LA... ;)

This is my guess as well. If it stuck to one of their cards when going through the sorting process it would have been barcoded with the LA address so would still be routed there even if it became unstuck later. I discovered this when I received a card addressed to someone else, put it back in the mail, only to have it re-delivered to me 3 days later. But once I blacked out the barcode and sent it on again, it seems to have worked (at least it didn't come back to me a 3rd time).
