Rude or weird postcrossers.

Did you sent a card to someone who's really ungrateful and even rude to you?

I sent someone a card, the kids chose the card, decorated and wrote their name. The card was everything he wished in his profile.
The only thing I got back was: I hate the card.

Maybe it's weird but I was really shocked

Did you ever had such a rude or a weird message back?

I sent a UNESCO card to someone that had those in their wishlist. Their registration message started:

"Hello,

It's a pity, the cards of Finland are so rare, I shall have liked an Inge Look."

They also had Inge Löök on their wishlist - I don't like those cards and rarely buy them because of that (so yeah, didn't have any of those lying around).

They did say thank you and wished a happy new year after that but still, I really see no point in adding that first sentence to the message. :duh:

Many didn't bother to say anything at all about the card I sent and once someone said "I hate it"

That's so sad :( I hope you don't get hurt too much because of these rude and stupid people. It says more about them than about you. Some people are just so mean especially when they are behind their pc or phone, true heroes :flaming:

The Postcrossing Team has seen it all (and more!!).

So much angst over a piece of cardboard with a picture on one side!

We could write a book (if we had time)!!!

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I was upset in the moment, but just as you say, it is all about them and not about me. And those few negative messages are very very few compared to the thousands of positive messages.

Can I suggest that you guys should write a book (or at least a blog post) about managing postcrossing in general? :P I'm now curious about what kinds of things you guys deal with :o

Sowwy for the off-topic

Luckily, the " worst" responses I've ever received were empty messages, as far as I can remember. And I prefer to think there must be a fair reason for that (like poor English, lack of time etc.) But to say you "hate" the postcard you received... Why?! If you didn't like it, just say thank you and leave it at that, I'd say. Could there be some translation error at work here? :puzzled:

That's terrible! It's sad that some people feel the need to spread hatred, rather than love, kindness and acceptance.:love::love:

I was quite new to Postcrossing when I received my first rude message on a postcard with regards to my wish, not to receive homemade postcards in my profile. It was quite insulting and told me off in a rather nasty way on how I should enjoy someone's hard work and thoughtfulness. Imagine, this was written on the postcard they so generously sent me...At that point, I wished they hadn't bothered and almost quit Postcrossing because of it. I did check this person out further online and discovered that she felt she was the Michelangelo of mail art and it wouldn't have done me any good to respond to her tirade because she was right and I was wrong..

I also received at different times, several postcards with hateful words on my dislike of having to write to your pets or trees. I had made a comment in my profile that I was not fond of spending time or money on postcards going to pets. When I read these words and accusations of my apparent 'hate' for pets (of which I had many at the time)I began to be concerned about the type of people on this site that could write such terrible things to a perfect stranger...I decided, it takes all kinds and chose to ignore their nastiness. I also decided to remove my feelings on sending postcards to pets and trees from my profile. Now, I turn it into a teaching experience about the dangers of roaming cats and the bird population...etc Several of these cards have not been registered and I'm sure it was because they didn't like my teaching method. It did do my heart good though.:)

I am sorry that happened to you. We should not be surprised that some members are small, spiteful people. I've been fortunate to have avoided such people (thus far). The vast majority of members aren't like that. In time, these pinheads will be short-timers and leave.

It is really sad that it isn't a surprise that some people are so negative and narrow minded.

I just can't understand what's wrong with some people, what in their life made them so hateful?

But I'm happy that the most people are kind until now it's just one bad message the others were so sweet!

Keep spreading the love and make someone smile:bouncy:

I just drew a profile that states the Postcrosser does not like boxed postcards and probably won’t register them. I’m not even sure what a boxed postcard is, from a boxed set like 100 Flowers, or something?

I thought we were all obligated to register each postcard we received, whether we “like” the card or not.

If this Postcrosser says that they won’t register boxed cards, they should be reported to the Postcrossing team.

You should report that profile because they cannot say that they will probably not register a postcard they get sent. And yes, it's like the 100 flowers or animals.

Following this thread I just wanted to point out that the overwhelming majority is nice and polite.
After sending more than 3000 cards I can summarize I did not receive one single rude message. Empty ones yes, a few but never negative.

What is a boxed card?

Some postcards are packaged in a box that contains 100 postcards of a particular theme. The Postcrossing blog featured some here: https://www.postcrossing.com/blog/2014/01/13/postcard-boxes-roundup

Interesting, I have those boxes too, but I was thinking they were referring to something else. I can't really see why you wouldn't want those? The quality is very good in the ones I have (oa Disney/Pixar, Linda)! :duh:
