this seems like a lot of fuss for a piece of paper that will get scuffed up by the postal machines

Of course, there is a difference and it is clearly visible on the laptop screen.
Images do not differ in size and resolution, but the second picture contains more clear details than other ones.
But of course, everything is individual, someone is not able to see an elephant directly in front of them :)
