Stamps or postcards?

What attracts you more -- stamps or postcards?
What gives you more pleasure -- beautiful stamps or postcards?
Please do not write -- both, it is advisable to choose just one thing.

Personally, I sincerely like more beautiful stamps especially when there are 4-5 of them, and they are well selected and neatly pasted like here, for example:

For me, Postcards. I have collected, sold traded and bought Postcards for 40+ years. Despite what many here believe, "Postcard Collecting" refers to collecting the picture. When the postcard enters the mailstream, it then enters into the realm of Philately as a "cover.":)

I think in general I like the card more.
(Although nice stamps always make me happy, and the message too.
If it's a not so pretty card, nice stamps can make it better, or nice message.)

By the way greenskull, perhaps it would be polite to blur the message in the card too, unless you have permission to publish it, and if you have, it would be good to mention it, right?

(from community guidelines: https://www.postcrossing.com/about/guidelines

Keep private information private.
The addresses given to you are private information and can only be used for Postcrossing purposes. Do not share them with anyone or make them public on the internet. This also applies to what is written on the postcards you have received, so please do not scan it.)

No problem I've already blurred it also . But there is really no any private info in the postcard in the text message.

The rule is:
Keep private information private.
The addresses given to you are private information and can only be used for Postcrossing purposes. Do not share them with anyone or make them public on the internet. This also applies to what is written on the postcards you have received, so please do not scan it.

I understand it this way - address is strightly private informaion and can't be shared at all, and if there is any private information in the text of the message, it cannot be shared in the public domain as well.
Only one thing is written in the message of my postcard - who is the author of the sculpture, which is depicted on the postcard. This is not too private information, is it? :)

I don't find it "advisable" to choose one or the other. I like beautiful postcards that arrive through the mail with message and beautiful stamps. The beauty and magic of Postcrossing is that they almost always come together. :)

This thread is mine and I set the rule of the game in it. You just have to choose one thing. The answer - both - carries no special value in this thread. Sorry.
Perhaps your answer will be valuable in some other thread specifically dedicated to the beauty and magic of Postcrossing :)

By indirect signs, I assume that the stamps are less interesting to you than postcards.

Out of those two I would go for stamps, but it's not the most important thing for me in postcrossing. I much prefer the text on the card. I do also like collecting stamps but they never leave the card.

I keep my favourite cards in albums, and very few of them have dull or absent messages. If a card has fairly nice stamps on and just says "sorry haven't got weird cards happy postcrossing thanks bye" it will never be a favourite. My album has some very boring cards with beautiful and full writing sides.

As it is a public forum, anyone can voice their opinion and do not have to agree with you simply because you started the thread. So no, I don't have to choose one or the other, on postcrossing or on the forum.

If to follow your logic, then at the request of a person to pass them pepper, you normally give them salt because the restaurant is a public place :)
Thanx!

I agree that the non-trivial text gives additional value to the postcard.

I have a question for you: Why do you always have to stir the pot?? Your sarcasm is atrocious, illogical and really not helpful.

If this is a question for Maggie , then I would also be interested to know this.

And if this is a question for me, then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone sees what they want.

And let's not discuss each other here, but back to the main topic of my thread -- stamps or postcards.
If you want to discuss me or Maggie, then I recommend you to make a special topic for this :)

No special topic needed. My comment was for YOUR benefit since you decided to make it personal with your sarcastic reply to her . You can put any twist on this you like, but I know a hare when I see one. ;)

Asking me whether stamps or postcards are more important to me is like asking me whether I prefer pizza or spaghetti: I like both.

This thread is not about hares, not about pizza, and not about spaghetti :)
I ask you please not to spam here and stick to the topic.

Stamps or postcards? You have to choose. If you can't -- just ignore it.

There are also nice ways to chat with people. How do you think they would feel reading your message?

Liking both is a perfectly valid answer and the comparison with favourite foods is a good one. You are the one who needs to be nice or ignore the topic. Please stop spamming your rudeness.

It depends on these people themselves.
Could you please be so kind to indicate in which particular comment you saw the rudeness?

For example every post you ever made. Please read them back and imagine how you would feel on the other side.

Most people who disagree with you are immediately labelled as "spam".

This is a thread on a public forum. Anyone can see it. Anyone registered can post their own opinion. These opinions are just as valid as yours. If people want to post about hares or pizza or spaghetti or antelopes or jellybeans in this or any other thread, that's up to them, not you. People don't "stick to topics", and especially not when ordered to. If you can not or will not accept that I suggest you contact some Mod or other. Good luck with that one. :bouncing:

I do not have to choose. I answered your question, you obviously didn't like it. That's all.
