I'm going to have six cards to the US, Russia and Thailand expire in three days, it's going to be such a relief!

I wonder whether it is possible for the system NOT to draw names and addresses of postcrossers who have not logged in for say, 60 days?

That period, seems to be a reasonable period in which to assume that a postcrosser has quit. If they log on again, the name goes back in the hat (unless the log on is to delete or suspend the account).

I have 10 current expired cards and one on the cusp.

The system does that already. I only don't remember if it's 60 or 90 days but addresses won't be delivered to users who have been inactive long enough. What the system doesn't know beforehand, though, is that a user might go inactive at the moment you draw their address. :)

That has happened often to me ... the person goes inactive right around the time I sent the postcard. I don't mind if folks decide to stop postcrossing, but geez, register the postcard at least. That is, if there isn't something like illness stopping them from being able to postcross.

I had this happen to me a couple of times too (I have almost 20 expired cards now :( ). I know some people might be sick or moving etc., but I can't believe that would happen to so many of my recipients... It would be nice if they could at least register the received cards...

Hi all...I am new here...
My question are.. is that really needed to mention our expired card in our postcrossing account ?.. Does is help to reduce the expired card in the future ?
I just have 37 sent cards but already 2 expired :(

These are the ones from my account...

US-478305 fugeecat U.S.A. 164 days Expired
US-460747 pikco China 187 days Expired
US-459008 kyree2 Estonia 189 days Expired
US-410789 huuvaratka Finland 256 days Expired

Sent a couple of PMs and received some replies, have resent 2 of the cards. 2 of the users gave no reply and have not been online in many months... :( Hopefully my re-sent cards will reach their destinations! :D

Expired cards bum me out, but more than anything, I just want everyone to receive the cards. :)

I currently have 20 expired cards but I'm hoping some of them might still get registered because they include countries like China, Cambodia, Brazil, Montenegro, Russia... so my expired count might still go down :D

Mood: New address!

[*] posted on 2-5-2010 at 07:39 PM

I have 3 expired cards.
2 of the users haven't logged on since I pulled their addresses. The 3rd one I have sent two cards to. She responded and said that neither card arrived, but I'm not sending another one. Maybe one of those two cards will show up in the next few weeks (though they were sent 08.12 & 19.03). Oh well.
I also have another two cards that look like they will expire soon because those users haven't logged on in quite some time. But I still have my fingers crossed! haha

Oh- I also received a card that didn't have an ID. I found someone that seems to be the sender (same name, country, and profile matches what they wrote about their family), and I messaged them asking if they sent it, but they never responded. Should I try again? I would hate for someone to have an expired card because of me!

Did you try using the "ask for help" option on the page where you register cards? I've received several cards without IDs and using that feature, they have been found every time, generally within a day.

I did, about 3 times when I first received it and it kept coming up with nothing. I finally decided to search on my own. haha

In fact- I just tried it again since you mentioned it, so it's searching. I don't see why it would work now though.

I just re-send 4 recent expired cards. I usually re-send once if the user is active... let's hope at least some of them will be registered :o

Total I've 15 expired cards, 7 of them from more than 1 year so they are no longer to see...
