I use http://www.ipf.net.au - you have to pay to receive a list of 14 members, and for your address to be sent to 14 others, but I have met some good people in the past from this service :)

I opened a section for penpals in my Blog (divided regarding age). You can check it at:

http://penpallingandletters.blogspot.com

I review every ad carefully and never allow ads which are not looking for friendship.

Hello Everyone! :)

Maybe you have already heard that I am the owner of the Penpalling & Letters Blog. Even if it is not a site where you would look for penpals, you can find interesting hints and tips related to letter-writing, connections to other sites penpalling-related, interviews to penpallers and crafty people...

Besides Facebook, you can follow Penpalling & Letters in Google+ now: Penpalling & Letters in G+ but the need to have a meeting point lead us to create the Penpalling & Letters Forum, where we are not only discussing penpalling-related topics, but sharing personal ideas, experiences, learning about other cultures and countries, customs, languages, typical characteristics of our lands, gastronomy, legends, music, exchange postcards and other worlwide items...

We would like to welcome new members so if someone is interested, let me know! However, since our forum is based on safety and mutual trust among their members, the only requirement from the P&L Team is that you provide enough information certifying you are into penpalling before registering (to avoid scammers and problems). How to do that? Show us your Facebook profile, your Postcrossing profile, your personal Blog, your Interpals profile, your G+ profile, be recommended by a penpal... and also show us a proof you write and receive letters (a picture for example in which your name is shown) by contacting us through penpallingandletters[at]gmail[dot]com. If you are eligible to enter you will be notified by the P&L Team. We go through all petitions individually, therefore, if a person fails to fulfill our requirements or if a request is suspicious, that profile will be rejected.

Here it goes a little intro about the Penpalling & Letters Forum:

Dear Letter-writers,

Penpalling and Letters has its official Forum now!

The P&L Forum is accessible to registered members only. Therefore you have to register first. Afterwards, feel free to associate it with your Facebook ID, your Google ID or any other ID allowed that you will see in the access page. And no, you do not have to come up with yet one more ID and password to enter the discussion boards!

Once you are in, please have a look at the Forum Rules first and foremost! Another step to get you started is the Help section on the top horizontal menu bar of the Forum page or the Forum Functionality thread.

We are looking forward to seeing and discussing with you in the P&L Forum!

I was meaning to join Interpals but I keep hearing bad things about it :/
I think I like http://geekgirlpenpals.com/ much better, but it takes a long time to find penpals there, so I was looking for other sites.

Has anyone joined any snail mail facebook groups?

I discovered Letter writers alliance about 2 years ago.....and have picked up half a dozen good penpals from across the world....though it does seem to be primarily a US based site...4 of the 6 penpals I have through them are in the US.

You can request general areas eg. Europe.. but it's not always possible..

I did ask if possible for one match to be "off the beaten track" and ended up with a pal who works for the National Park Service in Alaska at the Denali National Park and Wilderness Preserve.

Hello!

Do you have heard about Pen Friend Club of Japan ?
If you want any new friends from Japan, it will be the perfect site for you.

I found the site when i was in high school. I think it's best for finding Japan pen friends because they have off-line activities, not only online. It's more an insurance that you will meet a real person (not fake account).

The rule is you sent your submission first (written, in envelope, to PFC office). Then they will announce your name and country on their magazine. PFC members who are interested in you will contact PFC to get your address. The ones will send a first letter to you and.. voila you get a new friend from Japan!

The site said it can take 2-3 months until you get your first letter.
When i was in high school, only 2 letters were showed up. Last September I sent another one to PFC address. Then in November until now, I have got 10 letters!

I think it will be better if you open to any ages and genders. Mention it in your submission. The ones' age who sent to me are vary, age 14-40. Then again, it's up to you.

Is there any other site which similar to this one?
Happy snail mailing! :)

I know it's been a couple years since your post, but did you have much luck with the Letter Writer Alliance? I signed up for the digital account today and have yet to receive my member number, despite it being almost a full day. :( A bit of a bummer, because the program seems to well-maintained!

Hi,

I sent my application to http://www.pfc.post.japanpost.jp/english/index.html
in May and last week I received letters everyday (sometimes 3 or 4 on the same day!)
A very good way to get new Japanese penpals if you can wait a few months before you receive the first letters :)
