Been a while since this thread has been updated. I'm seeking penpals from Africa and South America, but I'm not sure which site is the best to find non-spam accounts from those continents. (I've heard, for example, Interpals is spammy.) Any advice? Or should I just reach out on Postcrossing to those seeking direct swaps?

Thanks!

Hello,

Interpals is good. I block messages there from male senders and I never receive any spam. You can block messages from certain age ranges or countries.

I recommended http://www.globalpenfriends.com as well.

If anyone knows a good place to find penpals from China or Hong Kong, I'd love to hear about it.

I found an excellent "video pal" to my students from this Facebook group. We exchange videos via messager and my students love it a lot!

I have found a pen pal magazine that is different than most. It is called "The Letter Exchange" A magazine for Letter Writers. It's published three times a year. I have been a subscriber for years and love how they approach pen palling. They assign people a number, and you use that number to identify yourself. So you can write letters and answer ads using that number. This helps protect your privacy. You also get a free ad. Take a look here, and you can also order a sample copy of their magazine: http://www.letter-exchange.com

If you are on Facebook and likes penpalling. swapping (lots of postcards, stickers, washi, teas, crafting materials and much more), journalling and crafting, I have a group suggestion.

It's a really well run group full of lovely giving people.

Has anyone tried Slowly, the app? It's not exactly snail mail (all over the app) but I am curious.

Also, I got a notification from Letter Writer's Alliance a while back, and they've closed for good. I was a member but never actually signed up for a penpal.
