Update -

Buzz shop opposite of philiatelic museum has closed, so no more $1 shan lee there (But still available in chinatown)

Lucky plaza 3rd level (Jim's souvenir store at a very obscure corner) also sells DK studio postcards at $1 each. Lucky plaza basement also have cameraman cards at $1 each but nothing much to cheer about.

If you guys happen to pass by Arab Street there's quite some shops selling postcards including somewhere near the Sultan Mosque there's a toy museum. I went there last weekend and managed to find postcards with birds and flowers (orchids) and it's only 30cents? There's also the Tanjong Pagar railway postcard I mentioned. and also one with Stamford Raffles' portrait face (I find that pretty funny).

The quality isn't too great but at least it's very different from the usual SG ones.

It's funny how postcrossing has me on the lookout for postcards LOL :D

To add on what Viv says. The museum is called Children's little museum.

Basically the arab street area surrounding the Sultan Mosque is like a little chinatown, many shops selling postcards, from common impressive postcards at 50-60 cents to Cameraman at 80 Cents.

I also see shanLee postcards right besides the museum.
Besides the regular $1 ones, i noted there are even longer varieties of Shan Lee postcards, which is like nearly 1.5 longer than the already long shan lee. But these were being sold at 1.50 SGD a piece, slightly more varieties like HDB flat, Rojak, Curry Fish head, Chinese Herbs etc

Note these super long shan lee and those cheap postcards in the children little museum are not in good condition, i.e many are slightly bent cards, some slightly yellowish but for 30 cents (those at the museum) you really cannot complain.

Hi! Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already. There's this building in orchard, I think it's the old far east building (not the shopping one). It's mostly offices, but there's a shop on the ground floor selling touristy stuff. There you can get touristic postcards, $3 for 10. You have to buy 10 at once though. They recently changed their stock, the new postcards are quite pretty! But it's all about the MBS though. There are two tourist shops side by side; it's the one on the right.

hello~
if you guys want postcards that are more arty farty/design/illustrations based, you can try this shop called Cat Socrates at Bras Basah. it's at level 2. their postcards are usually $1 each, slightly pricey. but if you want to look for something not tourist-y, you can try the shop.
there are many indie shops in singapore that sell nice design postcards, Little Drom Store, BooksActually (can't think of any others.)

There's also one shop at bras basah that sells some old postcards. it's the first bookstore (that sells second hand books) that you will see if you walk from the direction of national library. and it's facing raffles hotel.

I also found some postcards of OLD singapore in China Square too (you know the place where they sell alot of toys on sunday?). if i can remember correctly, the shop is located at second level. they have alot of pins/badges and many old stuffs outside the shop. I THINK it's near Play Imaginative.

Hey, not sure if anyone has posted this before, but I managed to get a good deal yesterday. I was at John Little at Marina Square and I found this super value postcard pack. 40 Singapore postcards going for $15.00!! Now, they’re having a sale, which means 25% off the pack for members. That makes it less than 30 cents per piece!

The postcards are located at the customer service counter right beside the toys section. Go check it out!

Just realised that the last time I was on this forum was some 2.5 years ago. But, finally, relentless search - both online and off - has borne fruit. I found the following website that has postcards of Singapore's flag, map and lighthouse.

http://www.thepostcardhouse.com/store/Default.asp

Have no idea what the postcard quality is like, if it is self-print, etc. Just that I have placed my orders and awaiting delivery ... :)

cheers,
Clarence

Hello!

Our postcard rate to the rest of the world is S$0.60 (you can use two pieces of '1st local' stamps for this).

Do check out our first post for some ideas on 'where to buy postcards'.

Welcome to Singapore! If you fancy a small meetup, that can be arranged too!
