So October 9th is World Post Day, have any of you heard of it? Do you do anything with/about it?

Postcrossing has been 'celebrating' the day since 2012.

https://www.postcrossing.com/blog/tag/world-post-day

Each year I ask Aust Post what they are doing for the day and each year I get a blank response and a 'will see what we can do'. Nothing happens.

Didnt Aust post put out those wonderful solar system stamps last year?

I made some solar envelopes to go with the stamps:

while i have a few moments .... i'll quickly post a little update here ... not that i have done so much in a while

some of you may recall my mother in law has been dealing with advanced cancer (ovarian spread to bowel and elsewhere) for the past 3 years
my father in law was her primary care giver
they lived in port macquarie - mid north coast nsw - from home a solid 8 hour drive without delays

since midway through this year, they started to play hospital tag with each other - mil went in with an infection, comes home, he goes in for an infection, comes home...
repeat

sadly my father in law passed away suddenly in september, aged 89, so a long, good life

and today my mother in law decided she'd had enough fighting too and it is time for a permanent rest
she passed away peacefully earlier this morning

i'll be here when i am and when i am not, now you have a hint of what else i might be doing....

But they still require you to put on a stamp. Big notice at my post office about they do require a stamp to post even in the 'special Santa post box'.

Went to my nearest town yesterday (Friday) to take one of my dogs to the groomers and while there cleared my PO Box.

Walked through the mall and the supermarkets were overflowing with people but the post office was empty! The staff were chatting to each other as they waited for customers. Amazing sight for the last postage day before Xmas.

Hi, it has been quite awhile since I have been in this forum but I decided to get rid of some of my unused postcards as I will not pay $2.95 to send a card. at the bottom of the box I found 30 pre paid cards which I had forgotten all about.
Now I can join in again until I get them sent.
Wishing you all a wonder filled 2017

He closed all of his numerous inactive accounts.

Things happening behind the scenes in regards to his last account.

Maybe they can afford to pay the posties now so they do a better job than resent his salary he is getting
