New Maps

Just noticed there are new maps to show the postcard's travels (to and from). I actually prefer the old maps!

Google maps (who we have been using) are bringing in a charge system and Postcrossing is over the limit of their free maps so unfortunately the maps are having to change.

New maps

I see there are nice new maps now, to show how our cards have travelled.

"Data, imagery and maps by MapQuest, OpenStreetMap and contributors, CC-BY-SA. Powered by Leaflet."

Will the same happen for location, I wonder. I'm especially interested as my location doesn't show up correctly.

I started a post about this in the Postcrossing.com section of the forums.

I don't like the new maps. There is no "to" and "from" on the markers.

I did find your thread later, sorry to have duplicated.

I quite like the look of them in spite of no "to" and "from".

I'm glad you stopped using google maps. I think google is not a trustworthy company anymore and I don't approve of their current methods.

I'm sure postcrossers will get used to new maps quickly!

I don't like them either. I don't think they are as detailed.

If you look at Mundoo's answer to KarenNfld's question here, you can see that this change has been made out of necessity. We're just going to have to get used to the new maps. I don't find these maps all that important anyway, so I pretty much don't care.

I have added the 'F' and 'T' markers - I had forgotten about them, thanks for pointing that out!

I like the new ones better and I like the alternative to google. Will the personal maps also change?

The city names seem very arbitrary, the map of France doesn't even have Paris on one zoom out from the default zoom level!

Nope, at least mine hasn't. I mean the map that shows journeys of all your sent and received postcards.

Oh, right! I probably should've been a bit more specific at the first place. :P
