6th Ipswich meeting - Saturday September 21st 2013

The 6th Ipswich Postcrossing meeting will be on 21st September 2013. It will be an international meeting as fisherman is coming from Ireland.

Let's meet at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday 21st September. The meeting place will be 'revolution' in Cattle Market, Ipswich. It's immediately opposite the bus station. It's also close to the Buttermarket Shopping Centre, the Tourist Information Office and town centre. 'revolution' is a little pricey but there's loads of room.

So we'll meet up and have coffee, then there will be time to go off in search of postcards for those who need them. After that we can return to 'revolution' to write and sign postcards. We'll see who wants to do what for lunch. After lunch we'll do some sightseeing.

I have chosen 'revolution' as the meeting place as the staff at Costa are not friendly or helpful. Last time they were so busy there was no room for us. There should be plenty of room at 'revolution'. If anyone arrives early, the Tourist Information Office is just around the corner and has the best choice of local postcards. The Works in the Buttermarket also has a stand of postcards upstairs (20p each or 50p for three of the smaller cards; larger cards are 35p each or £1 for three) but there is not such a great choice.

List of attendees:
toucans
Coffeedoff
Elcmae
tyomitch
fisherman
foxfires

I would love to, but don't know my travel plans yet - so pick a date, and then I'll cross my fingers that it'll match.

I have changed the provisional date to September 21st. I now expect to be somewhere on the south coast on the 7th and 8th of September. Also there is a meeting in Utrecht (Netherlands) a week earlier, which I am considering attending, although two gatherings in one month might be a bit much!

Interested, though a little far away for me (over 5hrs on the train :()
Will have to see what plans arise and perhaps tag along.

Do you get many people coming each year? :)

Thanks for your enquiry! Last September there were 12 of us - the thread is still available to view so you can see who came, and it was an international event! It will be wonderful to see you if you are able to make it:cool:

Welcome szelka! I have replied with a U2U but yes, there will be opportunities to swap cards. I will bring cards from my trips this year - Isle of Wight, North Wales and the Peak District, plus other swaps. There will be other swaps available.

I have sent U2Us to everyone attending. If anyone else is coming on the off-chance, this information may be important to you.

Here is some important information about the truly chaotic situation in Ipswich. It affects anyone travelling into the town centre by bus, locally and long-distance.

The two bus stations in Ipswich are being redeveloped. At the same time! They have both been closed and major roadworks at both sites mean that buses do not have a station to go to.

This means that buses into and out of the town centre cannot stop or pick up at the bus stations.

If you are travelling into Ipswich by train or bus, including the Park and Ride, please check with the bus driver where you can get off the bus, and check also where you will get on the return bus.

If you use the train, you can walk into the town centre - it will take about 20 minutes and there are busy streets to cross.

You can drive into the town and park where you can, but it can be expensive.

Please allow extra time for your journey! I hope you will have a great day and I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

Nice to see everyone at David's Ipswich meet-up today.
From left to right:
Elcmae, Coffeedoff, foxfires, Toucans, Fisherman, Tyomitch
I signed (it seemed) dozens of cards.
I had to leave early because of family stuff but I had a really nice time. A special thanks to Fisherman and his wife for contributing the lovely book of cards which I won, and will keep as a souvenir and never send!

My sincere thanks to everyone who attended the meeting in Ipswich today! I had a great time, and you're right, foxfires, we did sign dozens of cards!

Great photo!

Meetings have been requested in Cambridge in April 2014 and Norwich in September 2014, to vary the venues a bit. Dates to follow!

Easter 2014 is Apr 20th, so perhaps the meeting can be the previous weekend, that is Apr 12th?
