[updated] Houston, TX meetup. Sunday, October 6th, 2013!

CITY/REGION: Houston
DATE: 6 Oct 2013
TIME: 3pm - 7pm
LOCATION: New Gallery

Hey all! It's been a while since there was a Houston meet up. I would love to share and meet new people. I am friends with some other postcrossers in the Houston area and have been throwing around the idea for a while. Maybe a meet up in september or october?

UPDATED DETAILS! I will add more details as the date gets closer:
We are planning it for Sunday, October 6th 3-7pm. The location will be New Gallery, located at 3225 Milam St., Houston, TX 77006 (in Midtown).

We are hoping to make it an afternoon snack/late lunch event, so feel free to bring a dish, snacks, or drinks to share. You're also welcomed to bring any favorite postcards to show and tell. We plan on signing some postcards also, so feel free to bring some blank cards as well. However, we have decided to cap it no more than 5 postcards per person.

We hope to see ya'll there!

Alrighty folks! We have narrowed it down to October, possibly on a Saturday during the afternoon/early evening. Keep your eyes out for a date!

Don't forget if you bring cards to work on at the meetup don't forget your stamps, pens, stickers, you know postcard stuff

Also feel free to bring blank postcards to trade too (you may bring as many blank cards to trade as you like, but only bring up to 5 to have signed) just in case anyone is confused ;)

and as far as parking goes, sundays are always free parking on the streets and its pretty quiet over there on Sundays, also there is a little parking lot right on the corner of Milam and Elgin that will be available for parking as well.

Thanks for the message about this meet-up! I'm definitely planning on making it to Houston for this. (I'm coming from Austin.)

I would also love to get some postcard shopping done while I'm in the big city. Any suggestions from local Houston folks? My plan is to drive over on Saturday and spend the night.

Thanks again for organizing this!

That's great! I'm so glad you can make it! If you want some touristy postcards there is a Houston themed shop at the galleria that has a bunch. I get most my cards at half price books. The ones there are mostly art cards and other subjects. They have a section labeled "postcard books" but I have also bought touristy cards at barns and noble. Those 2 bookstores are not far from our meetup.

@micklpickl As strange as it may seem, some of my more popular cards that i've sent out have been from Wal Mart, so I would suggest there.

You can see my popular ones here: http://www.postcrossing.com/user/absolutmeliss/gallery/popular

Melissa no one can view your link except for you. That list is only available for each postcrosser when they are logged on to their account :)

If I can find a way to get down from Dallas, I may just have to join this. (But I don't drive, so it may involve copious amounts of Greyhound.)

Megabus.com is also a good alternative to Greyhound.

Sounds great! I come home from a conference in Dallas on Saturday, so should be able to be there on Sunday! I'll bring another Postcrosser, my dad, with me if he wants to ride over.
I'm in the Beaumont area.

My favorite places to postcard shop are "The Big Store" in Crystal Beach and the Aquarium Gift Shop at Moody Gardens. Shells, birds, lighthouse, etc.

I'm going next weekend. If anyone wants to trade for those, I'll pick up more... always willing to pickup more...

I'll have Beaumont, TX and Nederland, TX cards, too.

I live in Beaumont, and picked up PostCrossing while sitting in a Las Vegas hotel last week. My first 5 cards are still in Transit. I picked up a bunch of cards in the meantime. At this meetup I can bring cards from Vegas, and some cool western themed cards from Arizona.
