THINGS TO NOTE

Quote:

Things to bring if you are new to the meetup: Bring yourself; bring a pen & a rubber band/big clip with your name; be prepared to sign 10* cards per postcrosser (that's like 400 cards if all 40 pax appear :O); bring some special postcards (and only postcards - 3D, nice maxicards, postcards that smells like fruits, etc) to share with us; prepare the addresses in advance if you want to send them (KPO closes at 4pm but we can drop our cards there, or head to ION Orchard PO that closes at 7pm); be friendly (I'm sure some of us are introverts but this is the one and only day of the year to socialise with other postcrossers in Singapore); thank Jade for designing our 2014 postcard.

AAnnnnndddddd if you have something to share with everyone, let me know now, will see if we are seated close enough to make little presentations. That's all.

See you this Saturday!

Be early if you can (to help chope tables for the others) and don't be too late! Buzz on this page if you are there and you can't find us!

Quote:

Please bring a rubber band (with your name on a stapled slip of paper) or a big clip for your own stack of cards to be passed around for signing. Let's make it neat and systematic for everyone!

Quote:

Since our RSVP tally is officially 40, it would be sensible to keep the signed cards to 10 each (400 is A LOT!). We can then sign extras if we have extra time.

Hello! I'm excited!

Would it be possible to print the cards on FSC/PEPC/chlorine-free paper or some sort of "green" paper?

http://www.paperlinx.com.sg/index.php/node/index/our_world_our_comm...

http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest+News/Science+%2526+Tech/Story/A...

It would be quite interesting to receive a card made from sugarcane.. and it's green!

I'm happy to help you source for it. No vested interests here. Just want to be eco-friendly. :)

Hi Aly

Sure, please share some quotes of printing on such eco-friendly cards. If it's not too expensive we'll be happy to explore into it.

Post-meetup log:

We had 34 postcrossers (our largest ever) attending the 3rd Postcrossing Meetup in Singapore!

Picking up lessons from last year, we started the planning very early from mid-2013, gathering the official postcard design, printing the official postcard, collecting pre-orders and RVSP for the event.

A few firsts for the Singapore Postcrossing Meetup
1. We had our first professionally-designed postcard by fellow postcrosser JadeSoo!
2. We printed our postcards on eco-friendly recycled paper (thanks alyelephant)!
3. We printed 1000 cards (thanks everyone)!
4. We crowd-sourced ideas for the venue (thanks everyone)!

The expected turnout rate of 40+ postcrossers turned out to be a challenge in setting the venue as it would be a problem accommodating all of us. Finally we decided on Marche Restaurant at 313 Somerset a week before the meetup.

A day before the meetup, there were people beginning to drop out from the meetup, which is a tad disappointing, but things still will go on..

Half an hour before the meetup, GeraldineKee, alyelephant and me (sybones) arrived at the restaurant to un-officially "reserve" seats for the rest of us (thanks!). We kept a tab on the other tables and took the chance to reserve the table once it's emptied. Thankfully we ended up with more tables than we needed!

Slowly, the postcrossers started to stream in, with each one having their own stack of official meetup postcards to sign and be signed. We also had our own clips and rubber bands to secure our own cards from getting lost! Love some of the giant clips out there!

Postcards collections were being shared around, and we got to see some of the most interesting postcards and stamps used.

We clapped to thank our designer with our deepest appreciation and gratitude.

Then it was time to take a group photo - the most challenging ever - three whole rows of postcrossers!

Many more conversations and signatures went on, and then soon it was time to say goodbye and it was dinner time for us (and the restaurant!).

Let's hope to see familiar and new faces next year! See you there!

Thank you for the wonderful postcard I have received from this meeting.

So many signatures and thank you for sybones for thinking of me.

I was also lucky to receive an official ID postcard as well signed by all.

I love the design and the quality of the cardstock and the wonderful q-code. Neat!!

Thank you all. :) :) :)
