If you could change one thing about PC ...

I'm sure many have some pet peeve about the official site.
What is you biggest one? Just one, no cheating ;)

Mine is the, I think it's called, line-wrap or word-wrap in the body
of text of your profile. (when a line of text automatically "wraps" to the next
line when it gets to the end of a page or text field)

This makes your profile looks fine on one resolution
but all out of sorts and messy on another.
Especially on that part that is next to the mailbox location.
I wish the mailbox location was placed below the body of text,
not in it, for this reason.

Okay, I cheated, kind off, but as topic starter I have that privilege =D

What's your pet peeve?

For the forum I "lurk" a lot of the time not logged in. When I see something I want to post in, I log in

My pet peeve is that I then lose the page I was looking at. I then have to hunt for it again. Yet, I don't have to on the main site

I'd like to be able to read the profile of the sender when I'm registering his/her postcard, BEFORE I write my thank you message.

One single wish: to be able to arrange my favorites the way I want (by subject). A manual arrange option (like in flickr) would be awesome.
But I guess it will never happen...

Me too! I could comment on things in the profile, what we have in common, etc.

I wish something similar.
Maybe add tags to classify the postcards and manage better the Favorites, at least to me would be great because I use the Favorites as a WishList.

This is my one wish too, to add tags!:love::love::love::love:

I wish postcards sent to people who have lost interest in PC would automatically be marked as "sent". I have lots of expired cards and where half of them the users just never logged in again.

I'd like to be able to add a description of the uploaded image of a postcard I'm sending. I have no problem with the recipient being able to edit or delete it if they want, the same as they can with the image itself.

The "seeing the profile before you register the card" was a close second on my list!

That would be my wish too. When I thank the sender for the card I like to know the person's name. If they haven't put it on the card, I don't know it, just have to say "thanks" to ?????

Logged out automatically after i close the page
and when i go to my office PC, i'd like to see that i am still logged in.
As i remember, a moderate once suggested you not log in and log out repeatedly in one day. (?) He remains logged in

Not a problem on my end; i'm not complaining !

I'm happy with Postcrossing the way it is, goodness knows I would HATE to be the ones running this magical being, SUCH a lot of work. I'm just grateful I found it.

Yes, this! It normally takes a while for my cards to arrive at their destinations. Sometimes the receiver already lost interest in Postcrossing by the time my card arrives, but they don't set their account to inactive. I hate expired cards, especially they're not lost but went to users who left PC and never register cards anymore. :(

I would love to be able to check sender's profile before registering cards, too. Sometimes I can't read their handwritten names, sometimes I want to know if we have anything in common (like someone wrote above), it would be nice to write about it in my thank you message.

Absolutely this. I've just had yet another card "disappear" after 365 days; it was pretty clear that the recipient was a child who got bored and lost interest. Another card that I sent 4 months ago, went to someone who hasn't been seen in 5 months and who has never registered a single card - even though she sent some so ought to have received some, a good few months ago. Looks like that one, too has simply lost interest. (I sent polite emails to both, but never had the courtesy of a response from either.)

Postcrossing assure you that they "do everything they can" about it, i.e. that they send loads of reminders to members who have "disappeared". Which I frankly think is useless, because those members are unlikely to take note of email reminders if they can't even be bothered to log in any more to register their received cards!

But Postcrossing COULD do one thing more: they could send a clear final reminder to such members if they have not been seen for more than, say, 6 or 8 months. If there is no response to that, and still no outstanding cards registered within another 4 weeks, the account should be terminated. That way, at least all those people who have sent them cards in good faith will have their names returned to the pool and will receive the cards they are owed.

I firmly believe that this course of action would be fairer on the greater number of people!

For sure my one thing would be "tagging" cards on our walls by topic. It would also make it a lot easier to find new cards to favorite in a way other than "by country". While it is sometimes fun to go browse cards when thinking "ooh, I wonder what kind of card they have available to send in xxxx country", the feature has very little use when you're thinking "Ooh, I want to start a new collection of postcards and want to add some cards of that category to my favorites!" In that instance, searching by country has very little help, and depending on the topic you want to search for, there might not be many that fit within the top pages of the un-sorted cards in the gallery:(

It would also make it easier to search others favorites and received walls. If someone says they like "cat" cards, I might want to check to see which cards of cats they've already received, or check their favorites to see if I have one they might particularly want (I'm thinking of the "Cutest Sneeze in the World" collection). While those cards are often sent by people in the US, they are not always. Searching by country really limits this, and tags would really improve it

Yes! That would make things sooo! much easier with having 2,000 favorited cards you have to go through to find "that one" card!

I wish Postcrossing does not give out my adres in batches, but a bit more evenly spread over time.
I've recieved 11 postcards in november (3-4 in one day), but not a single one after that... :(

That is two months with no postcard in my mailbox. Can understand why starting Postcrossers lose interest because of that :o

And yes, I'm still sending in the mean time. To slow travelling countries that is.
